I like plants and nature very much, this is what I wanted to show with this artwork too. We are one with nature, we are a part of it, so we should treasure it all the time. It is so good to take a trip in the forest, breathing in the fresh air, listening to the music of the woods. It is a treasure, that is invaluable.
The biggest challenge with this artwork was that it was continuously changing and I was not sure whether the changes I’ve made were good or not. I felt this from the beginning so I proceeded a bit slowly with the painting. I think I have learnt a lot from this artwork. This was the first real painting I’ve fully started in grayscale and finished it. I like this process, I can work more freely at the beginning, it is easier to fix this and that.
You will see in the animation how I have developed the artwork from the sketch. I think I will put more effort into my sketches so they will be more closer to the finished artwork next time. I still feel that I spend too much time on correcting the base artwork. The better the starting point is the easier it is to work with it.
