I have been in the Zoo last Saturday and saw this beautiful bird, a Southern Cassowary. My husband made a photo of him and I liked it so much that I have made a painting based on it. This started as a practice but as I have worked on it more it turned out to be a full-fledged painting.
Cassowaries are such interesting looking giant birds that I look at with admiration and fear at the same time. I like their colorful head with that helmet kind of thing on it. They remind me of the era of Dinosaurs.
