How to let yourself feel happy by asking the right questions

How do you feel yourself today? When was the last time you have asked yourself this question? It is so easy to forget about ourselves in the fast paced every day we live in. However, it should be our top priority, to know how we feel. Are we happy or sad, satisfied or unsatisfied?

There is an easy practice you can insert into your daily life to let yourself feel happy.

That practice is journaling.

Doesn’t it feel good when you can talk to a friend and share all your problems, feelings with him/her? When you talk out all your problems, you get better because you get all those thoughts out of your head. This works with a journal too. You can write your thoughts in your journal and you will feel better immediatelly. (Don’t ditch your friends though!)

How does journaling work?

Journaling is a powerful tool that can help you get rid of unwanted thoughts, be more focused and to get to know yourself better.

How it works is easy!

You grab a physical or digital journal and you ask questions from yourself. What you ask will make a big different in the result you get. Ask important, relevant questions from yourself about how you feel and about your life to really feel how powerful it is!

Once you have a good question to ask from yourself, you write down your answers into your journal. You can write as much as you feel like to: until you run out of thoughts or until you find the answers you were looking for. Once this can take you two minutes, an other time you might find yourself writing for half an hour. (Your writing skills will get better too!!)

In some cases while you are answering your question new related questions will pop up for you. These clarifying questions can help you dive deeper into the matter and bring you closer to what you seek. Now let’s see some good questions you can use to find your happiness!

What to ask yourself to feel happy?

Here are some questions you can ask yourself to find out what you need to be happy and what is holding you back from being happy:

  • How do I feel myself right now?
  • Why do I feel this way? (Ask this again and again until you find the real cause of your feelings)
  • What do I need in order to feel myself happy?
  • What can I do now to be happy?
  • What is stopping me from being happy and what can I do to solve it?

By answering these questions you bring the focus to the important stuff, to the most important thing on Earth for you: to yourself! By looking inside of yourself, examining your feelings you make the first step to be aware of yourself.

Being aware of yourself, you bring yourself to the present moment, and the present moment in itself is happiness. Being on Earth, being alive, feeling the ground below your feet, feeling the air, feeling your body and feeling your feelings are what make you ultimately happy.

And yes, you have your problems, they will not solve themselves so easily but just by bringing your focus to yourself, being in the present moment will make you feel happy, even if the whole world is against you. Writing down how you feel and what causes those feelings, you will see what you need to do to solve the problems, to feel great and to be happy.

By journaling you can do this. Sit down and spend a few minutes or more just on yourself! Because you deserve to spend time on yourself! See and feel how you are, be in the present moment and enjoy it!
